James Fredrick Schindler age 79, passed away in the early morning of April 8, 2024, in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was born on May 22, 1944, in Salt Lake City to Carolina (Strickstrock) and Moroni Schindler as a first generation American.
Jim lived in Utah for his entire life, growing up on Loveland Avenue and then choosing to reside in a nearby neighborhood. Utah served as his home base, but he seized every opportunity to explore the world. Jim was a very adventurous person who had a passion for news, politics, opera, and traveling. His travels took him all over the globe including such locations as Antarctica, Europe, Africa. As well as many locations across the United States. We always looked forward to hearing about his recent adventures when we got together for family dinners.
His travels began at a young age when he served a faithful mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Germany. He loved his faith and continued to serve and love others throughout his career.
Upon his return he began his studies at Brigham Young University where he received his undergraduate degree. He then continued at the University of Utah where he received his PhD in English Literature. Jim spent his life working as an Education Specialist and was proud to be known as such. He was dedicated to education and was celebrated for his accomplishments throughout his career.
Jim loved his family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents Carolina and Moroni and his brother Harold Schindler. He is survived by a niece and nephews; Caroly (Kirk) Silver, Steven (Cynthia) Schindler, and Jeffery Schindler, along with two grand nieces, Elizabeth Silver, Kylah Schindler and two grand nephews, Caden and Colton Schindler.
Thank you to everyone who has taken such great care of our uncle over the last few years. Jim will be missed dearly by all who knew him.
