Lorin L Smith (Teacher)

Lorin L. Smith, 90, passed away May 4, 1994 in Salt Lake City, Utah.Born in Smithfield, Utah to Abraham L. and Regina Cragun Smith. He is a graduate of Utah State University and the University of Utah. He taught school in Salina, Utah and at East and South High School in Salt Lake City. He worked with the Salt Lake Community College and the State Board of Education in Surplus Property Acquisition for Student Training programs. He contributed to the early end of World War II in his work as a scientist in the Manhattan Project. He worked in sales for over 20 years with Arnold Machinery and General Implement. He was chairman of the scholarship committee BPOE #85 and was also secretary at the same lodge for over 20 years.Survived by his wife, Edith Jepson Smith; sons, Robert C. and Don J. Smith; daughter, Colleen Cohne; 23 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, sister, Laura Moosman and daughter, Lynn Richards.Funeral services 12 noon, Monday, May 9, 1994 at the Wasatch Lawn Mortuary Chapel, 3401 South Highland Drive. Friends may call Sunday at the mortuary from 6-8 p.m. and prior to services on Monday from 10:45-11:45 a.m.Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Cottonwood Murray Lodge BPOE, #2344, 4894 So. State, Murray, UT or the Salvation Army.
