After graduating from St. Mary's, I worked for IBM for 5 years, after which I backpacked throughout South and Central America for 6 months. Throughout those years, I frequently came to the Big Bend area on camping trips. In 1996, Jenny and I moved to Alpine where Jenny started an Aveda hair salon (Americana) while I attended Sul Ross State University to get my teaching certificate. Since that time, I have taught English in the upper middle and high school grades. Our son Henry was born at home in 2002, and is currently a second grader at Alpine Montessori School
