Doug taught me how to tie a necktie. I think of him almost every time I tie one. We played on the same colt league baseball team that my dad coached at age 15. RIP Doug!
Doug was one of my very closest friends at church & high school and then later in Austin where he was stationed at Bergstrom Air Force Base while I was a student at UT. He later worked in Dayton,Ohio & Houston where I was also able to visit.. We always stayed in touch and would get our families together for dinner whenever I was visiting San Antonio. I was fortunate to have spent a few hours with him at his bedside in Houston a few days before he passed. He always amazed me with his positive upbeat attitude while he was fighting cancer. Doug never gave up and had a very strong faith in God! I miss him very much.
