My husband and I formed a Bluegrass Band
The Ledbetters Bluegrass Band,based in the San Antonio/Austin area,began as a duet in 1988 with the husband-wife team of Spencer and Kathy Drake performing regulary in an unlikely place for bluegrass music,Port Aransas,Texas on the gulf coast. The venue was Yankee & Betty's Seafood Galley, a popular seafood restaurant that featured live music on the week-ends. Spencer and Kathy performed as a duet for the next three years. In early 1991 The Ledbetters became a four piece band with the addition of a fiddle and upright bass player.
During the following years the band's travels took them many thousands of miles playing bluegrass festivals and other events throughout texas and the eastern U.S. They have recorded two albums and have appeared on numerous TV and radio shows, including The Outdoor Channel where their version of the Roy Acuff classic, Streamlined Cannonball was the sound track music for the "Whistle Stop" show for three years.
