I have had a very eventful, sometimes tumultuous life. After leaving UT Austin I spent a year in Houston teaching at the University of St. Thomas (there is a long story about one of my colleagues there!) and then moved to Europe in 1972. Spent a year in NYC 76-77 and then returned to Europe. Lived in Belgium and France for a while and then went to Germany where I have had permanent residence since 1977. Some people may remember that I played the french horn. I had a big international career as an orchestral musician and soloist until I stopped playing in 1989. I had always sung on the side, began taking lessons during my studies...I started a full-time singing career in 1990. I now have a private studio and a teaching job in Berlin...am officially retired and working more than ever before in my life. My two careers have taken me all over the world. I have been married twice and have a 26 year old daughter from the second time around. My present life partner is a painter-sculptor and we live in a very nice house with a garden in the middle of Berlin. I am a happy person - always have been.

I remember Judith - Judy - very well. She was the one that everyone made fun of. I am glad that she was so successful in her academic life and I hope she also enjoyed some personal happiness. High school was not a kind place for her. I remember being in class with her - I think it was Latin - when the news of the Kennedy assassination was announced. Judy broke into uncontrollable sobbing. She was probably the only person in the room intelligent enough to see all the reprecussions! Rest in Peace!

While in northern Norway, there was some light all through the night. We had good light until about 11:30 pm to midnight, then the sun rose again around 3:30 am. For two nights, we hiked up into the mountains to stay at a very little cabin on a bluff. This photo shows a lake in the distance with the fire we had in front of the remote cabin.

I just posted this video that I use for professional contacts. It was made about a year ago - so anyone who takes the three minutes to watch it can see what I'm doing now, where I live and work and get an idea of how I am - now at over 70. I am grateful for every day of life!

Hello Jack, this is a voice from the really distant past! In Germany it's considered bad luck to wish someone happy birthday before the actual day...so I'll refrain from writing those words to you. I will be thinking of you on Newyear's Eve - as I do anyway from time to time. You were one of my very few boyhood friends. I'm glad you have a good life and that you are still around. 1993 or so with Alyssa at Disneyland Paris. Later on that trip someone broke into my car in Paris and stole my very expensive leather jacket and my favorite hat - along with most of my other clothes for that trip - including a tuxedo. I was not happy!!
