Hi Class of 68!

Hard to believe that 50 years ago we were all walking to Pomp and Circumstance and looking forward to graduating from high school.  In looking through an old box in the back of the closet (maybe all of you have a box like that), I came across the attached note from the White House.  Maybe I read the letter at graduation…. I don’t remember.  Anyway since the letter is addressed to the Class of 68, I thought you should have a copy.  Maybe the words will provide some food for thought during this graduation season.  Maybe you have a grandchild or loved one that is graduating that would find the words inspiring.

As for me I am still in Austin and kind of semi-retired.  I married Miriam Hopkovitz (Class of 70) in 1971 and have two kids in their 30s.  I am still swimming and with the extra time have even started going to a “senior” yoga class.  I did not know that parts of your body can be stretched like that!  Ouch!

I am looking forward to seeing ya’ll at the 50th reunion in October and sharing our stories.   Thanks to the reunion committee for all their work.  Enjoy your summer.

Regards,

Ira
