Debbie Dunn Lammers

We had been living in a small town called Niwot near Boulder, Colorado from 1997 to 2019. We are in our "retirement" home on property we bought in 2006 in Glen Ellen. In 2009 I was elected to a large Colorado school district's board of education and served the two terms to 2017. I was also elected twice to a state-wide school board association's board. It was one of the largest school districts in Colorado with 55 schools and over 35,000 kids. It was quite fulfilling to testify before the state legislature in Denver regarding various proposed statutes concerning education such as assessments, funding, school safety, guns in schools, etc. I also revised graduation requirements for the 12 high schools in the district. (Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought that I would end up doing anything like this! Looks like I put that Chico State PoliSci degree to some use!)
We are delighted to be back in Wine & Weed Country surrounded by many friends and relatives.

My sister and I were new to Terra Linda our freshman year. I remember trying out for freshman cheerleaders and being surprised to get it since we didn't know anyone. Driving to San Rafael in my first car that I got over Christmas break our sophomore year - a 1959 Ford Fairlane. Kim C. would put a scarf on with red lipstick and pass for 21! Sitting on the front lawn at Rod Powell's New Year's Eve party December 31, 1967 - it was my 16th birthday that day. I think it was his house - it was over by Devon Drive. Being up on The Hill but Mr. Thornhill saw us anyway; My sister and I getting suspended for cutting on Senior Cut Day with Leslie and Pam Roberts (we weren't seniors!). My mom called Mrs. Rattray "that rat" when she had to go into the office that day. Going to Disneyland for the graduation trip with Pattie, Meredith, Becky, Tim, John and the rest of the class. But the best was meeting Meredith Sullivan in sophomore biology (Mr. Pikarainian with his weird stories) and remaining life-long friends. We still talk almost daily. Anybody remember Mrs. Rosenberg, the English teacher? Well, we are still in touch with her! my kids are amazed since they cannot fathom hanging out with their high school English teachers in 40 years!
