Steve DeMarta- June 24, 1951 - February 10, 2021
Steve was a wonderful husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend. He passed away after a valiant fight with cancer.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years Cheryl, his beloved children, daughter Renee (Jeremy), and his son Ryan (Sadie). He adored his grandchildren Rylee, Jake, Landon, Jorie, Mackenzie, and Bailee, and his great grandchildren Ashton and Makena.
Steve was fortunate to be part of a large family. His parents Wilma and Roy DeMarta (deceased) and his treasured siblings, Sandie (Art), Audrey (Ron), Brad (deceased), Craig (Irma), and Chris (Karl).
Steve enjoyed a varied career, from working as a Teamster at Novato Builder's Supply for 18 years, to two years in the movie industry, and finally as a manager at VSI for 20 years until his retirement in June of 2015.
Steve and Cheryl have lived in Sebastopol for 48 years and have enjoyed the friendship of wonderful friends there. He looked forward to having coffee with his morning group at Hardcore Espresso. They also are very thankful for many memorable RV trips with their "camping" group.
Steve's love for horses began at a young age and continued for the rest of his life. For many years he was very active in the Arabian horse community. He also enjoyed racing Arabian horses and racing his mules! In these later years he truly enjoyed watching his grandchildren becoming terrific horseback riders.
Steve's love of people was evident as soon as you met him. The saying "he never met a stranger" was so definitive of the person he was.
Steve will be greatly missed by so many
Enjoy your heavenly wings, Steve, until we meet again.

Our deepest sympathy to the DeMarta Family.  Steve was a great guy in HS.  Always smiling.   In later years, I would bump into him in Novato.    Then lost track without realizing the family was in Seapastopol for many years.  Hopefully the fond memories will sustain the family through this difficult time.   Best Ken and Katie (Castelucci) Regalia
