Bob will surely be missed!  He had a very large impact on my life.  When we were 14 he talked me into joining DeMolay with him. I had to do a lot of public speaking in that organization and the skills I developed served me well throughout my career.  He was always trying to get me to be a lawyer with him.  At age 14 we had already named our future law firm.  He wanted to do criminal law and he told me I could do Corporate Law. We went separate ways after that, but I am happy to see he achieved his dream!

Bob was my good friend throughout much of my childhood, even before TL.  We grew up together in Marinwood, and I have fond memories of Bob and his wonderful family.  Things I remember sharing with my buddy Bob in the early days of our friendship:  Playing backyard football and all manner of competitive games; sleepovers, also in his backyard, which naturally involved sneaking over the fence after dark and roaming the neighborhood; exploring the hills surrounding Marinwood, the creek and native American burial sites near our houses; being invited to Krambs’ family vacations in Santa Cruz; Bob’s mother, father and brothers who were very kind to me.  Mostly, I’ll remember Bob’s Tom Sawyer-like enthusiasm for adventure, like his idea one December to climb oak trees to harvest mistletoe.  I was afraid of heights, but there I was shimming up limbs 20 feet off the ground, convinced by Bob that we could make a fortune.  There were also stunts, like the day we and our other friends thought it would be fun to push a cardboard 50-gallon drum with one of us inside, down a local hill.  When it was my turn to climb into the drum, I was scared to death, but there was Bob assuring me that the chances of serious injury were slim (even in childhood, Bob could negotiate and persuade in lawyer-like convincing style).  Rest in peace Bob.  My thoughts and prayers for you and your entire family.

I remember him from P.E. classes and he was always a hell of a nice guy.

Wow. Not sure how I missed this. I first met Bob through my older brother Jeff and his surfing buddy Gary Krambs. Jeff and Gary were freshman at TLHS and Bob and I were in 7th grade at different junior high schools. We had some memorable times at the local Marin beaches surfing and hanging out with our bigger brothers.

We are all getting older...Steve Phillips
