In Memory

Darryl Minagawa

Darryl Kiyoshi Minagawa was born on September 25, 1960 in San Francisco, California to Earl and the late Dorothy Minagawa. He passed away peacefully on April 15, 2014 at the age of 53 in San Mateo, CA.
Darryl graduated from UC Berkeley where he met his wife of 24 years, Shelley Miyasaki. He received his MBA from Golden Gate University then worked for 23 years for Wayne Mitsunaga as an accountant and family counselor.
Darryl was an amazing husband, son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend; always gentle, a great listener with a tremendous sense of humor. He knew all the best places to eat and made every situation "totally relaxing."
We will remember him for his kindness, laughter and fun times hanging out with his friends. He is survived by his loving wife, Shelley; Basenji, Roxy; father, Earl Minagawa; sisters, Audrey and Alyson Minagawa; brother, Doug Minagawa (Kathleen); and nieces and nephews: Casey, Alex, Madison, Jason and Kelsey. Darryl leaves behind an extensive family and friends in Hawaii and California.
Darryl was an avid golfer and played with his friends and "the Kozos" in the NorCal Eagle Golf Club. He enjoyed traveling (especially to Disneyland), drinking good wine and eating shaved ice. An avid Giants' and Warriors' fan, he was a season ticket holder for many years. When not watching the pros, Darryl could be found cheering on his nieces and nephews at their sporting event

I reconnected with Darryl a couple of years ago.  He was one of the kindest people that I have ever met.  A true GENTLEman!

I was able to go to Darryl's memorial service last month.  It was a wonderful tribute to him.  An amazing amount of people came to pay tribute to him.

He will be missed <3
