I went through elementary, middle and high school with John. He was the smartest kid in our class. I remember when he brought a frog and a dissecting kit to our 4th grade class with Mrs. McGovern. She actually let us dissect a frog with John...I think that I was the only girl that did it. I actually held the heart while it was still beating! I'll never forget that. My last memory of John was watching him play the guitar with his old friends and band at a bar in San Rafael. He will always have a special place in my heart. Hope you're rockin out in heaven.

John and I were acquaintances and had friends in common during the high school years. It was sad for me to hear of his passing. Rest in peace John, you will not be forgotten. My prayers go out to you and your family.

This was very sad news for both Chris and I to hear. John and I go way back to Don Timoteo Elementary. I remember John as being one of the most sweet, kind, smart guys with a great sense of humor and an even better laugh. His rolling laughter was so contagious! At Vallecito and TLHS I remember him as part of the "blue derby" gang. The required uniform was jeans, t-shirt, steel-toed boots and a blue derby jacket. John hung out with Chris' brother Dave, and we would reunite at parties. John was in the band, "Warship", along with Alex Brown (passed away), Mario Caldarozzo (passed away), and Ken Kirby. We still have our homemade cassette tape, which sure brings back a lot of great memories. John's constant smile, great laugh and kind heart will be greatly missed. As Tina said, I hope John is rockin' out in heaven.

My fondest memory of John was in junior high, vallecito. We had a class together, I can't remember which one, but he was always so friendly, kind, approachable. I had a huge crush on some "other" guy but remember John asking me one day if I wanted to go steady. Back then going steady was a status thing, it didn't mean that you ever even saw the other person - it was like being pinned without the pin. I said yes. So I guess John was my first boyfriend. Too bad I never got to kiss him goodbye. Years latere I used to run into John as Kamikaze Sushi in Montecito with his girlfriend, who I believe later became his wife. Rest in peace John. Your friendship, laughs and good spirit will live on among us all.

This day has been absolutely without a doubt one of the saddest days in my life, I was shocked to see John Loring's name on this list. Although we did not share an adult life I have lots of memories of John hanging out at the "Rec."Terra Linda Recreation Center,or for those who remember hangin at Susan Zeverly's and Robins house, among us were Dave H. Mario C. Mike Bagshaw,David L. Joe, Robin,Greg,Eric,Susan,Nancy, the T.L. list goes on.Until the Ten year reunion I always remembered John by our peer given nick name and he by mine, but when we saw each other at the reunion we gave each other a hug and snickered and said guess I can't call you that ...anymore.I still remember the "Blue Derby" gang look except John had a leather vest that he wore and the chain wallet hanging out his pocket.A true rocker from day 1. Was lookin forward to seeing him again. Will see you again.

RIP my fallen brother. I didn't know till I read this page. It saddens me to know this. John is and was a good man. Pretty good Guitar player too! You will be remembered. He, Alex, and Nick are all in a good place now. RIP all of you.

I met John in Don Timoteo and saw him right before he had his surgery. When you know someone all those years you see changes and share many memories. The one constant about John was his intellect, friendliness and passion for music. The best parties he threw were the "summer solstice" in San Rafael!
