Gene E. Lund passed away on February 16, 2008, due to complications from open-heart surgery. Gene Lund was born on March 10, 1948 in Salt Lake City, UT. He's the son of Lloyd and Earla Lund. He graduated from Jordan High School, having great athletic ability and achieving high honors. He went on to further study at the University of Utah in 1967. Then Gene decided to pursue studies in Wildlife Management at Utah State University. While attending USU he was diagnosed with Hodgkin's disease which started multiple health problems lasting throughout his life. He started working at Cate Equipment Company with his father, Lloyd. Cate became Gene's second home for 35 years in sales and as a sales manager of Cate Industrial Co. Gene was loved and admired by his co-workers and associates. His honesty, work ethic and admiration were felt by all who knew him. In September of 1969 he married his high school sweetheart, Nancy Greenwood from Draper, in the Salt Lake Temple. They were blessed with three children and five treasured grandchildren, with another on the way. Hunting and fishing were Gene's life! The memories of Manti Mountains with his beloved wife, father, brothers, sisters, kids, grandkids, other relatives and friends were the highlight of his existence. Many stories were told around campfires and Dutch oven dinners. Gene loved and cherished his children and grandchildren. They brought a smile to his face. He enjoyed taking them fishing, camping, four-wheeling, or just sitting around the table playing card games. Gene was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He believed and lived many of the gospel principles of the Church and taught them to his children. Gene was known for his honesty, hard work, patience and service to others. He believed in being trustworthy in everything he did. He had a calmness about him that made you feel at ease when things got difficult. He is survived by his wife, Nancy; children, Brett (Rebecca), Justin (Sherri) and Angalee (Jared) Davis; mother, Earla Lund; brothers and sisters, Phil (Debra), Diane (Joe), Ron, Trisha (Brian), and Marie; and five grandchildren, Ashlee, Jaxson, Preslee, Olivia, and Boston. Gene has been reunited with his loving father and friend, Lloyd. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Feb. 21, at 11 a.m. at the Hidden Oaks Chapel, 11755 S. Highland Dr. Viewing will be on Wednesday, Feb. 20, from 6-8 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E. 10600 S. and on Thursday from 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment at Larkin Sunset Gardens.
