Alan Whiting Oleen, 60, of Hayden, Utah, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family and friends early March 22.

He will be remembered as a loving son, husband, father, brother, friend, coach, mentor and hero. Alan was a kind, steady and hard-working man who loved life and was deeply devoted to his wife, children, grandchildren and friends. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and enjoyed serving in the temple and in church callings. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during the Vietnam War and was active in the American Legion. He loved working in the oilfield, especially as a salesman and enjoyed traveling the intermountain west.

An avid outdoorsman and member of the Back Country Horsemen he could often be found hunting, fishing, camping or riding horses in the Uintah Mountains and the Bookcliffs.

He is survived by his wife, Marsha Phillips Oleen; his children, Garrett Oleen (Deanna) of Round Rock, Texas, Jennifer Rook (Kolby) and Grizz Oleen (Cindy) both of Neola, Brandy Wager (Josh) and Vikki Holmes (Scott) both of Vernal; mother, Mary Oleen of West Jordan; brothers, Russell Oleen of Herriman and Charles R. Bragg of Vernal; sister, Dixie Lee Martindale of Bountiful; 13 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
