After graduating from high school I went to Valencia Community College and got my AA degree. I then decided to stay in town and went to UCF and got my Bachelor's Degree and Master's Degree in Social Work. I thought I wanted to be a therapist and did that for a little while but soon realized it was not for me. After searching for what I really wanted to do and some unfortunate life experiences I stumbled upon Seminole County's Child Advocacy Center, Kids House. I applied for a position they had available on the Child Protection Team. At the time I didn't know what I was getting into but thought I would give it a shot. I soon realized this was the job for me. I am not a therapist but I get to interact with children in a very unique way. I am a forensic interviewer. I interview children for law enforcement, child protective services and the state attorney's office to gather evidence of physical and sexual abuse. Most people ask me how I can do this job but i always say "someone has too" and I absolutely love it. It is tough sometimes but then I realize it had to be tougher for that child.
I recently was married to the man of my dreams on November 1, 2008. John and I have known one another since high school (not Seminole). We were in the same youth group together and were best friends. However, we were just friends until 2004. He is the most amazing man and I can't wait to see what God has planned for the rest of our lives together.
