Princeton 73-77 - BA in History and Development Economics, but most important had a great time playing tennis for the team, made wonderful friends thru tennis.
Worked in SP in journalism from 78-82, free lance writer for the WSJ and various other business publications.
Then decided I had had enough of writing about business and went to NYU Business School 82-83, where I met Deborah, who was my wife for 21 yrs, most of which in Sao Paulo, the rest in NYC.
After B-school entered the banking business, which had never been in my plans, but which has turned out to be a good career option for me!
JPMorgan 83-94. Started in NYC and moved to SP in 1986.
Goldman Sachs 94-2002. Opened the Goldman office in Sao Paulo with great expectations of Brasil entering the global financial markets, but that was not to happen so soon. I left Goldman in 2002 to join the BNDES as appointed director.
BNDES Brazil Dev Bank 2002-2003 - One of the most challenging experiences I had professionally.
Visa 2004-2007
Currently at Itau - Unibanco, heading the M&A and project finance areas. Given everything that has happened in the financial industry over the last six months (I certainly never thought I would live to see so many iconic names go under so quickly!!), I feel very lucky to be employed!
