A few days ago I spoke for a group of high school seniors. I told them I had made many mistakes in the 70's. But I also told them I had benefited from a unique path that has a history with Graded.
In my mature voice, (laugh) I told these very young looking seniors that every decision they make today will impact their futures.
That process of discernment was without many borders in the l970's, but I am pleased with most of the decisions I have made since then.
My two greatest personal gifts in life have been: My marriage to my first husband. He died of a rare cancer in l992. My second husband and I are now good friends despite our divorce. The second surprise gift was the miraculous outcome of that marriage--our son Paul.
After attending The University of Michigan, I headed for New York City, and explored life through the lens of many cameras.
This passion for documentary work led me to New York University and an MA in Journalism.
CNN offered me a job and I was off to Atlanta for the next twenty years. It was there that I met Mother Teresa and followed her to India in l995. The outcome was a book.
I was on my way to North Carolina when a regional university in Oklahoma called and offered me a job on the faculty with the Communications Department.
It's been a journey. It continues.
