School Story:
WOW! How great to see the names of all from that great time together at Graded. What great memories I have of Graded, a really fantastic time in my life and I often think of friends made there and wonder how you all are getting on - geez, we're 50 now and I hope time has been good to us all - hoping we all survived the wild and wonderful times we had as teenagers. Especially the music brings back memories - all the greats - Yes, Pink Floyd, etc. Everytime I hear Eric Clapton, it reminds me sitting on the bedroom floor playing Risk with Harold - he always won!
After graduating from Graded (75) I went to Louisiana Tech University and left in 1979 with a BS in Biomedical Engineering. We had moved to Brasil from Monroe, Louisiana - when I returned to Louisiana for university I ended up in classes with some of my Monroe friends, and by a strange twist of fate ended up working with some of them in Memphis - small world!
I worked in Memphis for 14 years, first with Procter and Gamble in surgical product design and then at Baptist Memorial Hospital; I then jacked that in, sold everything and moved to Scotland to get a teaching degree. I was making a lot of money but got the feeling that there was more to life. My Mom and I had been to Scotland on a trip she won at her work, and I really liked it here. I started thinking about coming over for good and putting my engineering training to some different use. I also considered moving back to Brasil. About that time, Mom and I were picked to go on - can you believe it - the Wheel of Fortune game show Mother's Day edition. We won a car and some cash, so it was like an omen I guess - I sold the car to help fund my living expenses here while I was at teaching college. I got my teaching certificate in 1992 and I teach Craft and Technology (woodwork, electronics, technical drawing) at Dingwall High School now - just north of Inverness in the Highlands. It is sometimes a surreal experience working with teenagers because I have such vivid memories of our times - our hopes, dreams, worries and troubles, the fun we had - and I enjoy being a part of that process from the "other end" now.
I am married to John Fulton from Ayrshire Scotland since 1993. We also have a small farm, hence the only photo I can find of me, with baby bull Thor Christmas 2007
