Jon Dean May, 66, passed away Monday, March 22. He was born Aug. 27, 1943, in McAndrews, Ky., and moved to Sarasota in 1972.
He was a graduate ofEastern Kentucky University . Jon was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam. For 24 years he was either teaching history and economics at Sarasota High School or working for the school board as social studies coordinator. After retiring in 1997, he worked for the Sarasota Classified Teachers Association as a lobbyist in Tallahassee, until his death.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia; a son, Jonathan S. May of High Springs; and a brother, Bruce May of Stone, Ky.
A memorial service will be at noon Saturday, March 27, at the Pavilion at Twin Lakes Park, 6700 Clark Road, Sarasota.
