Karen Brass

 

 

     BRASS, Karen Yvette, Born April 24, 1971 - October 12, 2013 aged 41 years. Karen was born to Corrine at the Kamsack Hospital. She attended Victoria School, Mount Royal Collegiate, Kamsack Comprehensive Institute, graduating in 1989. She attended both U of R and U of S towards education and indigenous studies. She was was employed with the Kamsack Credit Union, Painted Hand Casino and Keeseekoose Chiefs' Education Centre. Throughout her years, Karen befriended many people and touched their lives in different ways. She adored Minor Hockey, featuring her "Kings" (nephews) Joe, Tyrell, Craig, Evander, and Xavier.

     She fondly enjoyed her time as the Cote Wolverines Bantam Hockey Team's General Manager. Although she had no kids of her own she helped raise 5 kids and was very special to Xavier and Leslee Rose. Karen was portrayed as "Big Sis" to many of the cousins, whom have their own personal stories of Karen to share. Karen will be missed with her humor and kind caring ways. She was traditional in her ways, through culture and language. Karen will be missed by her family, numerous friends, co-workers and students as she was a pillar of the community. Karen passed way peacefully at the Regina General Hospital surrounded by her family.

     Karen is survived by her mother Corrine, siblings; Stacy (Santana) Brass, Jaclyn Brass, Joseph (Rhoda) Straightnose, Gary Severight, Terry (Laverne) Severight, William "Lumtum" (Mellissa) Whitehawk, Cory "Poonskin" (Vanessa) Cadotte, Mark Pelly, Josephine Cote, Maybelline Cote as well as nieces, nephews and grandchildren.

     She is predceased by her grandparents; Corbitt and Hazel Cadotte, Wilfred Brass, Pauline Pelly, father; Lloyd Brass, sisters; Hazel and Lori-anne, brothers; Leslie and Harold.
