Saddened to report that Francis, Frank, Stumpf died yesterday morning 24 November.  His wife Elizabeth sent us the following message today:

Frank passed away this morning (November 24, 2013) at 3:00 AM in Johnstown. He has been suffering since February with endocarditis and congestive heart failure. His full obituary will be in Butler Eagle. Sincerely, Elizabeth Stumpf, 374 Seneca Trail, Davidsville, pa 15928 or stumpf77@verizon.net

Francis "Frank" E. Stumpf, 66, of Davidsville, Pa., formerly of Houtzdale, Pa., passed away Sunday at Select Specialty Hospital in Johnstown, Pa.
Frank was born on Dec. 4, 1946, in Natrona Heights, Pa., a son of the late Joseph C. and Theresa (Rice) Stumpf.
He was married on June 13, 1970, at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Philipsburg, Pa., to the former Elizabeth "Liz" Cowher, who survives at home.
He was a very active member of the Christ the King Parish in Houtzdale, Pa., where he had served with the church's Senior Choir, Funeral Choir and numerous other activities. He was a 3rd Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus and Our Lady of the Valley Council, 10376, Houtzdale, Pa., and he was a 4th Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus, Pope John Paul II Assembly 952, Clearfield, Pa. He was a member of the Houtzdale Lions Club and its Showboat Minstrel Program. He had volunteered for many years as an adult with the various Boy Scouts of America units in the Houtzdale and Moshannon Valley area.
He was employed for 34 years as an industrial arts teacher for the Moshannon Valley High School in Houtzdale, Pa., until his retirement in 2003. He had coached in the elementary and high school boys basketball programs during his tenure at Moshannon Valley. He had also served as a PIAA basketball referee.
He was a 1964 graduate of Knoch High School in Saxonburg. He received his bachelor of science in education in 1968 from California University of Pennsylvania. He also attended The Pennsylvania State University in University Park, Pa.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Stumpf is survived by his two sons, Christian J. Stumpf and his wife, Michelle, of Davidsville, Pa., and Matthew R. Stumpf and his wife, Heather, of Holden, La.; his four grandsons, Tyler, Scott, Cameron and Paul Stumpf; his sister, Theresa "Tess" Kaufman and her husband, Paul, of Murrells Inlet, S.C.; his two brothers, Joseph Stumpf and his wife, Rose, of Herman, Pa., and William Stumpf and his wife, Mary Ellen, of Titusville, Pa.; his brother-in-law, Paul Cowher and his wife, Carol, of Osceola Mills, Pa., and numerous nieces and nephews.
STUMPF - The visitation for Francis "Frank" E. Stumpf, who passed away Sunday, Nov. 24, 2013, will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Heath Funeral Home, 701 Lingle St., Osceola Mills, Pa.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Christ the King Catholic Church in Houtzdale, Pa., with the Rev. Michael J. Stumpf and the Rev. Stanley J. Swacha as co-celebrants. Burial will be at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery in Osceola Mills, Pa.
