Obituary

James L. “Jim” Vendetti, 77, passed away on Saturday, April 18th after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease. Jim was born in Schenectady and graduated from the former Linton High School in 1961. He graduated Royal Barber School and went to work with his uncle at Frank’s Barber Shop in Niskayuna. He was a supremely talented barber who worked at his craft for many years until he took over the business from Frank. He worked as a barber for over 47 years and was proudly joined by his wife JoAnn and his son Jimmy.
Jim loved to be with friends and family and was always the life of the party with his story-telling & dancing. He was quick witted, hilariously funny, and sharply intelligent. He was an avid reader and always amazed his customers with his vast knowledge on myriad subjects. His favorite part of being a barber was talking to his loyal customers and sharing stories with them. He had many hobbies ranging from building military models and model railroading, to photography, fishing, and target shooting. He was always tinkering and creating something amazing. Jim was a kind soul that left a positive impression on everyone he met. He will be dearly missed.
Jim is pre-deceased by his mother Catherine and his father Vincenzo. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, JoAnn (Tommasone) Vendetti, his daughter Justina Vendetti (Michael Conover) his son James A.Vendetti (Gina) and his beloved granddaughters, Jamisen and Ava. He is also survived by his treasured sister Patricia Venditti (Pio). James was also blessed by several cherished nieces and nephews.
A private graveside ceremony will be held for Jim at St. John’s Cemetary in Schenectady. There will be a celebration of Jim’s life held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please practice random acts of kindness, just the way Jim led his life.
