Linda A. Grieb, 75, Scottsbluff

June 15, 1947 - May 29, 2023

Linda A. Grieb, of Scottsbluff, Nebraska, passed away Monday, May 29, 2023, at Monument Rehab and Care in Scottsbluff.  A celebration of her life will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, June 22, 2023, at Mitchell Berean Church in Mitchell, Nebraska with Pastor Luke Worden officiating.  Cremation has taken place in accordance with her wishes.

Linda was born June 15, 1947, in Scottsbluff, to Willard and Donna (Lowe) Dalbey. She graduated in 1965 with one of the biggest classes in Scottsbluff High School’s history.

She married Ted Grieb on September 5, 1969, in Oberlin, Kansas.  They lived in Oberlin a short time before moving to Scottsbluff where they welcomed their only son, Billy Grieb, on November 16, 1970.

Linda was a remarkable cook with her homemade chicken and noodles and cabbage burgers being the best!  Linda was employed at the Western Cafe for eighteen years.  She transitioned into a caregiving role at the DOVES organization, providing support and resources to single mothers and victims of domestic violence and succeeded in providing care for ten years.  From there she positioned herself at  The Red Barn Café, and worked for CAPWN and Head Start for six years.  She found her favorite job at Westmoor Elementary in the food service area.  She was also a crossing guard at the 5th Avenue and Highway 26 intersection, and was ultimately recognized for her twenty years of service by Scottsbluff Public Schools.

Linda’s hobbies were garage sales, vintage treasures, and bowling in several leagues over the years, and a huge Beatles fan beginning in the 60’s to present time.  Her rescued chiweenie, Daisy, gave her much joy and was her beloved, furry companion.

Linda will be remembered as a nurturing, honest, non-judgmental person who loved her family and friends fiercely.  Her caring and sweet personality garnered her many friends and her memory will forever be remembered with love.

Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Ted Grieb of Scottsbluff; son, Billy (Shannon) Grieb of Scottsbluff; grandchildren, Brandon Grieb of Denver, CO and Ashton (Kate) Kipp of Scottsbluff; her beloved great-grandchildren, Embyr and Paisley Kipp of Scottsbluff; sister, Peggy (Kevin) Segelke of Bayard; nieces, Katie (Tonia) Segelke, Kim (Nate) Graves, Kassie (Trevor) Harris, and April (Nate) Strom all of Scottsbluff and Debra (Steve) Hajek of Littleton, CO; great nephews and great nieces, Kacey (Mark) Segelke, Nicolaus Absalon, and Kobe and Alayna Strom all of Scottsbluff; along with many other extended relatives and a host of friends.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Willard and Donna Dalbey; in-laws, Don and Bernice Zimmerman; and sister-in-law, Collette Hessler.

Memorials may be made in care of the family and will be designated later. Online condolences may be expressed by visiting  www.reverencefuneralparlor.com.

Linda was such a great, down-to-earth story- teller at class reunions and on Facebook. No BS. She lived a full life and was a keen observer of the human condition.

Rest in peace my friend. You earned it!
