Richard D. “Dick” Pauley

Dick Pauley passed away on Friday, April 14, 2017 at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff.

Dick was born May 26, 1947 in Scottsbluff to Walter and Irene (Schanaman) Pauley.  He attended schools in the area and graduated from Scottsbluff High School in 1965 then attended Western Nebraska Community College where he received an associate’s degree.

Dick married Dana Hanson on November 18, 1972 and to this union two children were born - Jennifer in 1974, and Travis in 1982.

Dick drove a bus for Western Nebraska Community College and Scottsbluff Public Schools.  He then worked at Lockwood Grader Corporation, NTC, and Sandberg Implement where he recently retired.  Throughout this time he also farmed on the family homestead in Scottsbluff.  His favorite pastimes were riding his motorcycle and gardening.  He loved watching NASCAR, football and participating in his children’s activities.

Dick is survived by his wife, Dana of Gering; daughter, Jennifer (Ed) Schaaf and grandchildren – Jonathan Richard and Taylor Lynn all of Broken Bow; NE, and son, Travis Pauley of Gering.  Dick was preceded in death by his parents; brother, James Pauley; brother-in-law, Don Thompson; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Betty and Clyde “Buzz” Hanson; and infant nephew, Jeffery Pauley.

A memorial service was held on Friday, April 21, 2017 at Grace Chapel in Scottsbluff with Pastor Jon Petersen officiating.  A private family inurnment followed at West Lawn Cemetery in Gering.  Any Memorials in care of the family will be designated at a later date.
