Adolph “Al” Lee Amundson
February 5, 1947 - March 1, 2025
Al Amundson was born in Minot, North Dakota, on February 5, 1947, and passed away on March 1, 2025, at the age of 78, in Littleton, Colorado.
Al was the oldest of three children sharing his life with siblings, Randy and Jane. The family moved to Scottsbluff, NE in 1952, where Al attended schools graduating from Scottsbluff High School with the Class of 1965. While attending high school Al was a member of the SHS swim team. It was while at SHS that he met the love of his life, Vivian “Vivi Lou” Saunders, who he would later marry. They married in 1972 and lived in Littleton Colorado where they continued to live throughout their lives. They were blessed with two children – a son and daughter, and 4 grandchildren.
After graduating from high school, Al attended Scottsbluff Junior College (Western Nebraska Community College) for two years, then went on to the Colorado School of Mines in Golden, CO, where he graduated with a degree in Mining Engineering in 1971. After receiving his degree, he went to work for several mining companies then the State of Colorado in the Mine Abandonment department where he worked for 15 years, retiring in 2014.
Al and Viv traveled extensively throughout Europe, touring France, Italy, the Scandanavian Capitals: Norway, Denmark, Sweden, and traveling back to the U.S. on a “Round-the-World” ship. Al was an avid hiker and felt fortunate to live in Colorado where he could truly enjoy nature.
Services for Al will take place on Saturday, April 5th, at 10:30am, at the Praise Church, 6657 W. Ottawa, Suite A11-L, Littleton, CO on the campus of Front Range Christian School. A light lunch will follow the service.
