
Elizabeth Ann (Hessler) Shoemaker
"Snooks" passed away Friday, Jan. 31, 2014 at her home in Superior, Colo. after a two year battle with breast cancer. A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, Feb. 7, 2014 at The Rock Church with Pastor Tyson Lambertson officiating. Memorial gifts may be made in her name to TRU Community Care.
Elizabeth was born on August 28, 1947, in Scottsbluff, to Edward and Vera (Ott) Hessler. She grew up in Scottsbluff receiving her education in the Scottsbluff schools and attended Nebraska Western Community College. She was united in marriage to Kevin Shoemaker on September 3, 1977, in Casper, Wyo., and together they raised their daughter, Mackenzie Shoemaker. She worked at Lockwoods (Scottsbluff); the ASCS Office (Scottsbluff); was a real estate appraiser for Otero Savings and Loan (Pueblo, Colo.); and was an executive secretary at Laheusen & Associates (Grand Junction, Colo.), all before retiring and becoming a stay at home mom in 1986. In 1990, she and her family moved to San Diego, Calif. She was very active in her daughter’s life growing up, volunteering for the Poway Unified School District, leading a Girl Scout troop, and traveling all over Southern California for various dance competitions. She enjoyed crafting, scrapbooking, and loved spending her summers at the beach. In 2004, she and her family moved to Superior, Colo. where she has resided since. She was always there for her family and friends and the memories she has left us with will always bring joy and comfort.
She is survived by her loving husband of 37 years, Kevin Shoemaker (Superior, Colo.); daughter Mackenzie Shoemaker (Superior, Colo.), father Edward Hessler (Scottsbluff); brothers Mick Hessler, Dave (Pam) Hessler, Robert (Peggy) Hessler, all of Scottsbluff; mother-in-law Eileen Shoemaker (Casper, Wyo.); sister-in-law Erin Broerman (Lone Tree, Colo.), 12 nieces and nephews, and 22 great nieces and nephews.
Preceding Elizabeth in death are her mother, Vera (Ott) Hessler, and brother, Eddie Hessler.
