GERING, NE  - Joseph M. Sabala, 49, of 1515 N Street, Gering, died March 6, 1996 in Chadron, NE.

Joe was born on July 23, 1946, in Scottsbluff to Frank and Jessie (Alonzo) Sabala, Sr.  He graduated from Scottsbluff High School in 1965.  He enlisted in the U. S. Army on March 16, 1966 and served during the Vietnam War.  He was honorably discharged on February 27, 1968. 

He married Vera J. Alvardo on May 27, 1972 in Gering, Nebraska.  He worked at Lichter-Duo Rest in Scottsbluff upon returning from the service.  He then worked for Burlington Northern Railroad as a welder from 1978 to the time of his death.
