
Steven John Sohus
Steven John Sohus passed away April 25, 2020 in Jagna, Bohol, Philippines.
Steve was born on January 4, 1947 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, and grew up primarily in Scottsbluff, living in Denver, Colorado as a young child. He graduated from Scottsbluff High School in 1965, and received his B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Denver in 1969, then worked for several years for an accounting firm in Denver. He was a Sergeant in the Army Reserves.
One of Steve’s accomplishments was to achieve Eagle Scout (BSA), and was a member of the Future Farmers of America (FFA), and a member of the Masonic Lodge. He appreciated cars and owned several classic cars including a '64 Ford Falcon convertible, a Boss 302 Mustang, '67 Corvette, a ’57 Thunderbird, Pontiac Fiero, SLK320 Mercedes, and his grandfather’s 1928 International Harvester farm truck. He was a lover of dogs, including a sheepdog, St. Bernards, a Corgi, and a Shitzu.
Steve followed his parents to California and joined them to run the moving and storage family business in Pasadena. He took over the company when his parents passed away in 1974. In 1976, he moved to Kalispell, Montana, where he raised sheep at McGregor Lake Ranch and was a real estate broker and commodities trader.
In the late 1980’s he moved to Malibou Lake Mountain Club in the Santa Monica Mountains west of Los Angeles, CA where he worked with TV and film companies using MLMC as a location and even had his home cast in TV episodes of “Twin Peaks.” He later moved to Oxnard, California on lived his sailboat. It was at this time he met the love of his life, Alona Felicia via long-distance, and visited her in the Philippines. They were married in Ventura, California in September 2004. While visiting the Philippines in 2012, they decided to make the area their permanent home and adopted their nephew, Alex.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents, John and Maxine Sohus, and is survived by his wife, Alona, son, Alex, and sister Anita Sohus of Pasadena, CA. Steve was laid to rest in the cemetery in Cabantian, Guindulman, Bohol, The Philippines cemetery near the famous Cabantian Hills in the area he loved so dearly.
