JAMES A. “Jim” SPURGEON

Jim passed away on November 13, 2018, in Scottsbluff. His memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, November 19, 2018, at The Rock Church in Scottsbluff with Pastor Tyson Lambertson officiating.

Per the family’s wish, please wear Nebraska Huskers or Denver Broncos attire for the service.  Cremation was held at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Home and inurnment will be at Fairview Cemetery in Scottsbluff after the service.  A memorial has been established to Festival of Hope.  Online condolences may be left at www.dugankramer.com

Jim was born July 19, 1947, in Scottsbluff., to John and Stella Spurgeon.  He attended and graduated from Scottsbluff High School in 1965 and earned a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Nebraska.  He married Mattie Caddell on June 24, 1966.  Of this union, two children were born, Michelle Lynn and Darin Scott.  These two children provided Mattie and Jim with seven grandkids.

Jim loved sports of all kinds, - golfing, bowling, and playing baseball in his youth. He was a Huskers and Broncos fan and of golf, basketball, and baseball and the Rockies.

Jim is survived by his daughter, Michelle (Reed) Smith of Golden, Colorado and their children, Prescott (Leigh), Chelsea (Jesse) Green and Lindsey (Pierce) Sublette; son, Darin (Teresa) Spurgeon of Scottsbluff and their children, Jared, Preston, and twins - Alyssa and Brianna; brother, Dennis (Jan) Spurgeon of Gretna; Great-Grandchildren; Brooks and Delaney Green, Knox Sublette and Sebastian Taylor; and special friend Barb Johndreau.

James was preceded in death by his wife Mattie Spurgeon; his parents; and grandson, Cody Spurgeon.
