Donald Arthur Thompson

Don passed away on August 11, 1976 as a result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident on Hwy 26, east of Mitchell, NE.

Don was born on November 20, 1946 to Perry and Leona Thompson in Scottsbluff and attended Lincoln Heights Grade School and graduated from Scottsbluff High School in 1965.

While in the Navy he served in Vietnam.  When he returned to the Valley he went to work for the Star-Herald as Assistant Circulation Manager.  He was President of the Scottsbluff Jaycees and was a member of the Scottsbluff Elks Lodge No. 1367.  He was employed at the Star-Herald at the time of his death.

Don is survived by his wife, Cheryl, son Jared, his parents, Perry and Leona of Sun City, AZ, and one brother, Allan of Leavenworth, KS.  He is also survived by his grandparents Mrs. Eula Allman of Springfield, MO and Mrs. Hazel Anderson of Scottsbluff.

The Scottsbluff Jaycees established a Donald Thompson Memorial Trust at the Scottsbluff National Bank.

Burial was held at Fairview Cemetery, Scottsbluff, Nebraska.
