Wyoming Tribune Eagle – Wednesday, November 28, 2018
Shirley Zamora, 73, of Cheyenne was called home Saturday, November. 24, 2018 at Davis Hospice Center, while surrounded by loved ones.
Shirley was born Jan. 9, 1945, in Alliance, NE to Guadalupe and Frances Vallejo. Shirley attended Scottsbluff schools and graduated from Scottsbluff High School in 1965. She married the love of her life, Fidel Zamora, on Sept. 20, 1969, and they recently celebrated 49 happy years together.
Shirley was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, and aunt. She was feisty, loyal, and fiercely protective of those she loved and was the cornerstone of her family. While she had two biological children, Melissa and Eric, many others honored her by calling her “mom.” She was selfless woman, giving in spirit, time, and self and was adored by many.
She is survived by her husband, Fidel Zamora; son, Eric Scott Zamora; daughter, Melissa Yvette Zamora of Cheyenne; sisters, Josephine Aguallo and Sandy Morales of Scottsbluff, NE, Lucy Orozco of Gering, NE; and brother, Ralph Vallejo of Garland, TX
She was preceded in death by her grandson, Gabriel Christian Zamora, parents, Frances Torres Vallejo and Guadalupe Vallejo; brothers, Jessie, Guadalupe, Bill, Rito, Frank, Pete, Carlos and sisters, Connie Torres, Susan Hessler and Frances Benitez.
We are better because of her, and she will be dearly missed.
Vigil will be at 7 p.m. Friday, November 30, 2018 at St. Mary’s Cathedral. A funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 10 am on Saturday, December 1, at St. Mary’s Cathedral, with Father Michael Carr as celebrant. Cremation is under the care of Schrader, Aragon and Jacoby Funeral Home.
