Boondockers...those were the days! I can remember racing my 68 VW Fastback out there and huge bon fires...everything else is kinda fuzzy...LOL

It was amazing just where a chevette could go. It was so light, I never got stuck anywhere.

I don't drink now at all, but in high school I just couldn't stand beer. I was so skilled at holding a beer at a party, then when someone near me said they needed a beer, I would just give them mine and wander back to the cooler. I could do a whole evening like that and no one ever noticed or commented to me.

The places where we had boondockers are all now subdivisions.

Bernina, ok, I will have to get my AZ state map out and follow along with those directions. I goofed around that area alot as a child. My dad was an engineer. He used to go out to old farmsteads all the time. He also designed the freeway exit of I-17 toward Prescott. First freeway exchange like that in the state. HE had a huge 4'x6' photo of the exchange in his office from then on. Think of me next time us use that exchange. PS, there is also a lilac bush that blooms there in April. I am guessing carpet cleaning salesmen are not an issue. :)

Bernina,
Yup, you are out in the boonies! Watch out the all the wild ones that are running around on the gun range! I bet you could actually give some of them some shoot'n lessons!
Those instruction sound like me trying to give people directions to my Mom's up in Payson. She is is Beaver Valley as is right on the Verde River! Sounds like you have a pretty cool place out there in the toolies!
The only time I'm in Prescott is usually on my Harley, so I don't think I'll try the 4x4 dirt road! LOL

Yes, Cordez or Cortez Junction. It was built early sixties or even fifties. I don't remember Daddy working on it, but I always remember that photo being there. He worked a lot up in the Payson/Strawberry area. We did a lot of hanging out in deserted areas when I was real little. but it is the intersection where Arcosanti is. I used to have a dear friend who lived there and I would go visit her when I went to see my mom every April.

LOL We live just less than a mile from the Columbia River. The soil is 50% or better sand. We have a new house with only partial landscaping. My little dogs go out, and bring it back in on their paws. It gets everywhere. My kids loved me enough to get me a roomba for Christmas. The benifits of living in the country far outway the gentle annoyances. Good for you.

Hey Gang. I just want to send out major Kudos to Marc B (and everyone else involved) for setting up this Saguaro network. This has been a completely unexpected but welcome surprise. I have many fond memories of my days at Mohave and Saguaro and I'm just realizing how grateful I am to be re-connected with everyone again.

Thanks Marc and everyone else who assisted in creating this forum.

Sincerely,

Dean P.

Hey people, how is everybody? I'm just throwing this out to any who may know, but does anyone remember Loren (Chip) York or Luke thirkhill. I saw Chip at the 2oth reunion and if I remember right he is teaching in the PV school district and Luke is working at the Phoenix Zoo, as of the mid-1980's. Can anyone check this out for me? I wouldn't know where to start and living in Missouri it would be hard to do. I know I won't be at the reunion this year, but it would be nice to get in touch with them.
Phil

Hey Dean,
Thanks for the kudos...we are still working on details for the actual event, and it is very rewarding now to see that everyone is having such a good time on the website!
Who would have thought we could have this much fun getting reconnected with everyone and all the memories!!
Thanks!

Here's to you Mona! Boondockers and the Beaner! I think I watered everyone of those shrubs, maybe that's why the land is so expensive in North Scottsdale!

History repeats its self.

Obama just signed the "stimulation package" in the same room that Clinton got his "package stimulated".

Funny joke... but not true... He signed the package in Colorado. But a nice attempt at gutter humor.
