Yes! Attending Reunion
Comments:

Crap! This can't be our 30th reunion - I'm still the youngest of 5 kids...next thing we know the gal at Luby's will be asking "will that be a senior discount?" grrrrrr, I'm carrying a can of Mace in preparation.

Well friends, not sure if I'll be able to make it to the reunion as I'll be up to my eyebrows mid May with moving me and my whole life out of state as well as transitioning out of my business. If all magically falls into place however, I may attempt to drive (18 hours, ouch) just to see if I can still do it like I did when I was in my 'Saguaro' days.

Post Saguaro years: In a nut shell, started a couple businesses during and after high school, felt a calling to go to Bible college in Portland, got engaged while there to a gal I had a previous relationship with. Did a 3 month CMNP ministry at the Grand Canyon with her, then we got engaged a year or so later... THEN, along comes 'Jenny Smith' who was also a student at Multnomah Bible College. She was one year ahead of me but smart and really cute with great legs and a good heart. Through much prayer and God's 'permission', I broke off the engagement and married the love of my life, Jenny, in 1984. She continues to make me a better person slow going as it is.

After the nuptials in Jenny's hometown of Springfield, Oregon, we moved back to Scottsdale, started a business there, sold it, then a few years later moved back to Portland. Decided that as much as I loved the Lord, and in spite of 3 years of Bible training, I wasn't a good mouthpiece for Him in an occupational sense.

So, since I like being around aircraft, had a military legacy, AND because I prefer a gentle scolding over vein-popping screaming, I joined the US Air Force (a kinder, gentler branch) and served for seven years, mostly in Hawaii, where we raised our kids.

While at the tail end of my Air Force career, I started yet another company, the Sign Center, Inc. This one I kept for 14 years and just sold it one month ago so I can work with my wife back in Portland (you following this, cause I'm losing track)...

In the mean time I'm between careers, am barely in post mid-life crisis and am thinking of applying at Dominos - I hear the tips are good if you smile.

School Story:

I was in the marching band - 'nuf said

(\__/)
(='.'=)
(")_(") "sniff"

Actually, if it wasn't for my good looking sisters I may not have had any high school friends at all cause I definately was not in the jock crowd, the pot head crowd, or the 'cool-for-now' crowd, so I just was holding a spot in a yet-to-be-determined category. So thank you all for not tossing me in the gym locker and throwing away the key - I might still be there, coach Cady would have made sure of it - I used to date his daughter.

One of my favorite memories is when I played hookey my junior year (a pastime of mine) and drove up to Flagstaff in February or March and came back to Saguaro with a truck bed full of snow just so we could have a snowball fight on campus.

Another favorite story was when I almost killed my buddy Scott Umble (never sit on the edge of a pickup truck bed while traveling at high speeds while not watching which way the driver is turning while chasing Jim Polk for leaving McDonalds trash on your front porch (you had to be there) - It's a good story only because Scott ended up marrying the gal who nursed him back to health (Marta Miller). You know what they say, all's well that end's well. And NO Scott, I'm not paying you for your medical expenses...statute of limitations has seriously kicked in, and you make a lot more money than me - besides you got a cool family out of the deal.

My wife Jenny & I half way up on an all day hike to Mt. Borah peak 2 years ago. Left camp at 4:30am and hiked for two hours in the dark using head-mounted LEDs - got back in the dark as well.

My wife is smiling now because we hadn't yet arrived at 'Chicken Out Ridge'

Our guide showing how relaxed it's possible to be in spite of hugging a 12 inch ledge along a cliff with a 2000 ft. vertical drop (Chicken-Out-Ridge)

That's our goal, the peak of Mt. Borah. At 12,662ft it's the highest in Idaho. The last 800 feet are nearly vertical on loose rock - extremely windy at that altitude as well.

We made it! Though far from the most scenic mountain in Idaho, it's definately the most exciting to climb, and boy what a view. Great trip, great memories, great to be in one piece.

Our first-born and favorite daughter, Caitlyn Elizabeth Kendall (now 21). She is funny, smart, an award winning Lindy Hop dancer, she's beautiful inside and out and a joy to have as a daughter. She is a linguistics major at Boise State and will continue on with her Masters next year.

Three of us getting ready to hike to the top of Shaffer Butte in preparation for 'the big one'
(sadly, my son doesn't like to do a lot of family activities since he became a girl magnet and video geek, but a truly great kid as well)

My two favorite ladies on a train ride to McCall through some truly beautiful idaho country, just an hour north of Boise. The lady on the right is a spy, or maybe just another passenger - not sure.
