Jean Cavanaugh Barsness

I had a career that began with the Scottsdale Unified School District in 1978 and continued until 2012 as a Nutrition Service Director in Southern CA. I worked in 5 different school districts, Scottsdale and then 4 districts in Southern CA. My husband and I were married in 1977. He was born and raised in North Dakota, we met in 1975, fell in love and the rest is history!! We were blessed with 2 amazing sons, Bryan, 34 yrs. old and Matt, 29 yrs. old. Neither son is married and I DO NOT have any grandchildren, much to my dismay!! I am so anxious to have grand children as it is said that "if you had known grandchildren were so wonderful you would have had them first!" We moved to ND after I retired and I absolutely LOVE living here, even with the cold winter, (but it's a "DRY" cold!)! The people here are the nicest people I have ever lived around and there continues to be a great American spirit throughout the state. I substitute teach when I want to, to make extra $$ to use to "play" with traveling frequently, especially in the brisk ND winter time. We visit Hawaii at least once a year and I try to make it to AZ at least once a year. My parents are both deceased and I have my sister Patty, living in AZ, and my brother Dave, living in Ohio. My "baby" brother Ken, passed away in 2011. I have been richly blessed with continued good health. I enjoy walking, swimming, bicycling and traveling as often as possible! OH, did I mention that we like to travel!!! Our travels include Ireland, Norway, (my husband is 3rd generation Norwegian) most all countries in Europe, the Far East and 51 states in the US. We have not been to Alaska but hope to visit there this year.

UPDATE: My husband and I have be full time RV'ers beginning in May of 2018. We are spending the winter in FL. and will spend the summer in MT, at Flathead Lake, golfing, bicycling, and spending time on the lake.

I graduated for ASU in 1975. I did continue with my post grad education after we moved to San Diego at UCSD, but didn't complete my masters. I enjoyed every minute of High School at Saguaro. I was so blessed to have had so many high school classmates that "helped" me grow up to be a productive citizen! Hard to believe, but we really did have a great class and great teachers!! I'd love to go back for a little while but I really don't want to do "life" as I have known it over again. I am now enjoying the fruits of a well lived life to this point, and continue to LIVE each and everyday to the fullest!!
