The Death of Little Min

The beach, the Pavilion, and in the Pavilion Frank Hall and his sister Min, two feisty white haired entrepreneurs ruled over the central public section and sold food from its concession.  In the schoo history, Look Back And Cheer, the section on the beach has a number of remembrances of Frank and his cigar saying, "Yessir, yessir, everything's copathetic," and  Min sashaying out from behind the counter into the table and chair area to stand hands on hips and tell someone sitting on a tabletop, "Say, don't you know tables were made for glasses not asses?"

They were no one's enemy and almost everyone's friends, espeically those of us who worked at the pavilion.  Several people contributed memories of them to the beach section.  She used to complain and joke a lot about her diverticulitus.  I always sent them Christmas cards. In December 1961 I sent one from England where I was in grad school.  I received a Christmas card from Frank.  I kept it and found it yesterday after 50 years.

"Dear Wally,

Your card rec'd.  I have had hard luck come.

Min died on Nov 1, 1960.  She wasn't well all last year.  I sure miss her.  She suffered terrible the last days of her life.

I know you will be surprised and feel awful about it.

Regards,

Frank Hall

Like many others I've talked to, I hear their name, listen to someone recall what Min or Frank did or said, and I miss them.
