George Pappas: North Shore teacher

In mid July I was escorting a friend from Iran on his first visit to America or anywhere outside of Iran. He had come to the US to give two talks in Massachusetts about his work translating Henry David Thoreau's Walden. He was also very eager to talk to Americans from all walks of life and to learn about their families and careers. In New York City, we stopped to have lunch with George Pappas who taught history and social studies for many years at North Shore High. George is now 86 and still traveling the world while living in an apartment a block or two from the nut store run by his Greek immigrant parents. Ali, my Iranian friend, interviewed George about teaching in America and living in Sea Cliff.
