Sharon (Ronnie) Johnson

Simultaneously enrolled at Clatsop Community College in my senior year, thanks to Sally Wentzel, Seaside High School art instructor, and a P.E.O. Sisterhood scholarship. I earned an A. A. in Art from Clatsop College and a subsequent B.A. in English Literature from Portland State University. I met a surfer from San Diego and had two boys, returned to Seaside and began a late-blooming art career in the 90's, having three one-person shows at the Seaside Shearwater Gallery as well as an upcoming show at the Seaside Public Library in 2013. I reside in the same family house from which I walked to Seaside High School as a youth. I still occasionally walk there to run the track.

Winning the P.E.O Sisterhood scholarship was a huge affirmation for me and initiated the higher education for which I yearned. I also remember those halcyon spring days when the track team trained until every muscle screamed out for Ben-gay.
