Barry Ray

As some will recall, I actually moved for my senior year to PA. After graduation, I went to Baylor University in Texas. While a senior there, I accepted a job at KWTX TV as a reporter. I spent the next 16 years as a television news anchor, the last three of which were at WSPA in SC, so I moved back here to be near family.

I left TV in 1999 and helped start a weekly newspaper called the Greenville Journal, which later spread to three cities. For ten years, I wrote a humor column called "Barry's World" which I wrote until Dec. of 2008. The best of is being compiled into a book for release next year.

I went into the PR field in 2001 as Senior Vice President of Brett Public Relations in Greenville before leaving to start my own PR/Marketing consulting firm. In 2005, I accepted a job in senior administration at Anderson University as Director of Marketing and Communications where I still am today.

I married in 1987 to the former Tina Ellenburg of Travelers Rest and we have one daughter, Allyson, who is a sophomore at Baylor.

It's great to be working near those classmates who live close by and to see them occasionally.

There were several that I probably shouldn't share, but I remember me and Mitch and Charles and the Gregs getting out of class on picture day and responding to a call for several clubs and organizations we didn't actually belong to. We're even in a couple of their pictures. None of them seemed to mind.
