David Shirley

After graduating from SHS I attended Newberry College on a baseball scholarship. After graduation from Newberry, I accepted a position with the Stephens County Parks and Recreation Department in Toccoa, Georgia where I served as Athletic Director for all county recreational activities. I later moved back to Seneca where I served as the Athletic Director for the City of Seneca Recreation Department. The highlight of my time there was my involvement in the planning and development of the Shaver Recreational Complex, which is located next door to the old Seneca High School. In 1988 I enrolled in the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary where I received my Masters of Divinity degree. (M-Div) I have had the honor of serving as Pastor of Rices Creek Baptist Church in Liberty (1991-1995), Hopewell Baptist Church in Seneca (1995-2001)and Mountain Creek Baptist Church in Greenville(2001-2010). I presently serve as Director of Missions for the 68 churches that make up the Beaverdam Baptist Association in Oconee County.

My memories of SHS revolve around playing baseball and spending time with the love of my life, Kathy Earle ('80) Shirley.
