After graduation, I went to Auburn University (because my dad said he was tired of his students telling him where I had been and what I had done every Monday) and graduated in 1984. I had aspirations of saving the world, so I moved to Atlanta and began teaching in an inner-city elementary school. After 5 years, I decided Atlanta didn't want to be saved, so I accepted a position in a private school. I am currently a Reading Specialist at The Atlanta Speech School, which serves children with language and learning disabilities.
I have been married to my husband, Jeff, for 21 years (No, it's not Jeff Richardson from Seneca). We have three daughters who keep us on our toes. They are in different schools; Julia is a Junior at The Westminster Schools, Caroline is in 7th grade at Woodward Academy, and Lucy in in 5th grade at Trinity School. Add in my school's schedule, and there is a good bet I don't know where someone is supposed to be or where they are going! Caroline is my most "city-savvy" child, as she rides Marta to school and back every day.
Our girls are accomplished competitive Irish Dancers (i.e.--Riverdance), so we seem to schedule our lives around lessons, practice, and competitions. All three qualified for the National Championships to be held in Nashville in July. It is a unique and entertaining sport, especially lucrative around St. Patrick's Day.
I work for travel, and Jeff travels for work, so its a perfect marriage!!! He is a consultant for Accenture, so he is normally gone four days a week. I love his miles and hotel points, and am always looking for the best way to spend them. Hawaii is one of my happy places, as is Key West. (Give me a boat drink and a pool boy and I'm good to go!) We took the girls to Paris, Ireland, Germany, and Austria last year. It was a wonderful and exhausting three week adventure.
We are now beginning the college search process for Julia. As we look through the brochures and websites, I find that I want to go more than she does!!
