I feel like I’m writing my obituary. If any of you are looking forward to my funeral and want a free eulogy, just read the following:
After graduation, I enrolled in USC (go Cocks!). For those of you who remember, I broke up with my high-school sweetheart, Velvet :)
In college I met my future wife, Leticia. We married soon after graduation. (In April, we will celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary…God, we are all getting old.) I doubled majored in Finance and Economics. I spent most my working career at Ford Motor Company at several locations, working as a Dealer Service Analyst and various supervisor positions.
After 9 years at FoMoCo, I left for a non-profit position (I wanted to change the world… boy, am I naive). We moved to Raleigh and I worked for a mid-size non-profit. I was Director of 5 programs, including several that worked with homeless families.
After the birth of our third son (we have 3 boys). I decided to become a stay-at-home dad. It was a cool experience changing diapers, feeding the baby, and doing all that stuff that moms are always bitching about. While I was at home, I enrolled in graduate school. I completed my Master of Education at North Carolina State University, double concentrating in Mental Retardation and Learning Disabilities.
I now teach in a self-contained high school Autism classroom. It’s pretty funny to think of Tom Harmon as a teacher…sometimes you become what you dread the most. Some of things I’m active in are: my local Catholic church, Pro-Life organizations, the Knights of Columbus, sailing on Lake Michigan and the Boy Scouts. When I’m not teaching or spending time with my family, you might find me on my Star motorcycle cruiser…and thinking about the coolest decade…the 80’s.
