I married and moved to Columbia in 1989. I worked for FN Manufacturing as an Admin Assist. I was there for 11 horrorendous years (LOL). FN is a government contractor who builds M-16s, M249s and M240s. As a child I had been taught to stay on the barrel a gun only to work at FN and find myself at the end of a gun barrel every day of my life.
In 2000, Safety Kleen, recruited me to work as one of their Corporate Trainers. Safety Kleen allowed me to travel all over the US, Canada and Puerto Rico. I was finally living my dream and working my dream job. I was single (again) and able to wake up most every day in a different town and different state. Ahhh, that was the life!
My Mother's health started to decline and as an only child I felt it was time to give up my dream and move back to Seneca to care for her. I was able to enjoy 18 months with her before complications from Parkinson's Disease took her home to be with my Dad. After much debate and beating my head against a wall, I decided to remain in Seneca. I miss my home and friends in Columbia, but it has been nice to reconnect with my roots.
I currently work as a Medicaid Case Manager for the Department of Health and Human Services. While this job remains far from my dream job, it has fulfilled my desire to help people in need. The pay is not much but the reward of helping people makes up for the pitiful pay.
I have been so blessed in my life and God continues to pour out blessings upon me and my family. I have experienced so much in my life and know if I die tonight that I have lived a exciting life filled with love, friends and adventure. I can't ask for more, but I sure hope I get to experience many more of those "WOW" moments in life.
