I have been involved in the horse industry my entire life (well, except for the first 3 years) and with my husband, bred and showed Appaloosas for ten years until we divorced in 1983. In 1980 I started researching for a book on the day-to-day operations of fire departments, and that led to my being "on duty" for 3 years with the Shaker Heights Fire Department. At the end of that time, I was accepted into a national program for firefighters leading to a B.S. Degree from the University of Cincinnati. In 1985 I was asked to assist in the creation of the Highland Hills (OH) Fire Department (formerly Warrensville Township) and retired in 2013 with a Lieutenant's Rank. I maintain a website focused on fire safety in barns, and a website devoted to the four novels in my Firehouse Family Series and a memoir of the years I was at Shaker Heights Fire Department. Currently, I continue my home business as a contract legal secretary for several attorneys in solo practices, and each week volunteer (and ride) at Fieldstone Farm Therapeutic Riding Center, and also assist the archivist in the research department of the Chagrin Falls Historical Society.
