Elliott Beryl Bassichis

 

 

Captain Elliott Bassichis, born on October 3, 1941 in Shaker Heights, Ohio, to the late Helen (Dargocey) Bassichis and the late Jack Bassichis, passed away at age 76 on August 28, 2018 in Grapevine, Texas. He graduated from Shaker Heights High School in 1959. Elliott proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He began his 30+ year career in aviation with Wright and Allegheny Airlines, retiring from US Airlines in 1996. Those remaining to cherish his memory include his loving fiancé Jackie McElveen and her sons Casey and Justin; his daughter, Marni (Robert) Blair; stepsons, Jim (Nan), Joe (Kathy) Randy (Rhondia) Gantt; sister, Lynn (Bernard) Grossman; grandchild, Henry Blair; step-grandchildren Heather, Jaime, Jimmy and Anthony. He also leaves behind his greatly loved dogs, Layla and Bear. Elliott had a passion as a handyman and was known in the community as the House Doctor. He was a long time member of Soaring Eagles, an organization of captains and crew where he proudly served as president in 2001. The family invites friends to join in celebrating Elliott's life on September 15, 2018 at the REC of Grapevine, 1175 Municipal Way, Grapevine, TX 76051 from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. Elliott believed in giving back and to honor his generosity, please consider a donation to a cause or association that is close to your heart.

The time I saw Elliot was at our 55 reunion . He showed such kindness and respect to 

Others and myself . He was a personable helpful person . Yes I am sad that he left us but I 

Am so glad I spoke with him and feel it was a privilege to know him . He will be missed!!
