Ian Hugh Gordon, born on July 18, 1941, to Edyth and Alex Gordon in Cleveland, Ohio, passed away peacefully at St. Luke’s Hospital on October 30, 2024, surrounded by loved ones. He is survived by his devoted wife, Brenda Gordon; his sister, Sharon Gordon Sheinbart; brother-in-law David Sheinbart, and brother-in-law, Mark Hecht.
Ian graduated in 1964 from Syracuse University, where he completed a rigorous five-year architecture program. His passion for design was matched only by his love of life. A true enthusiast of music, golf, and dining, Ian found joy in exploring the world with his wife Brenda, with cherished memories from an unforgettable Alaska cruise and his time spent in Australia.
A dedicated gardener, Ian took great pride in his lawn, nurturing it with the same care he showed to his beloved pets. He was especially fond of his black lab, Barky, and his chihuahua, Little Lady, both of whom brought him immense joy.
Ian will be remembered for his warm sense of humor and his deep affection for animals. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in his memory to the Houston Humane Society.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and, in particular, Dr. Kao Swi-Shih for her compassionate palliative care at St. Luke’s Hospital during Ian’s final days. Ian’s spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
