He was the beloved husband of Kay (nee Joseph) for an adventurous 62 years. Loving father of Laurie (Jonathan) Hurwitz and Lee (Stephanie) Resnick; dynamic grandfather to Paige Resnick (Felix Chaoulideer), Ian Resnick, Katie Belle, Alli and Ava Maersch, and bonus grandchildren, Joshua (Emily) Hurwitz, and Megan Hurwitz.

Mel was born on April, 7, 1941 to Joseph and Belle (nee Rosen) Resnick. He was a graduate of Shaker Heights High School, Ohio University and Case Western Reserve University School of Law. Anyone who knew Mel, understood he didn’t merely live life, he devoured it with excitement, curiosity and joy that touched the lives of so many.

Camping through the National Parks with family and friends to traveling around the globe, captured the essence of how Kay and Mel trekked and explored throughout their life together. The adventures continued with new close friendships in their Florida Shadow Wood community in Bonita Springs, Florida.

As a passionate gardener, Mel transformed their backyard into a botanical haven and earned the nickname “Mr. Greenjeans.” He was also an avid golfer, who loved to play and compete and was the consummate coach!

With over 50 years of practicing law as a partner at Dworken and Bernstein Co., L.P.A. Mel was a respected attorney, earning him admiration from peers and clients alike.

Mel’s love for family, friendship and his zest for life will remain with us always.
