Bill was a good man!  He was a Ludlow Elementary School classmate of mine. I remember visting Miami University's campus before enrolling with Bill and his stepfather Tom Armstrong (famous Cleveland radio morning show personality: "Word of the Day")

That's Bill next to me at my 12th birthday party (in the link)!  (Jimmy Rigelhaupt on the far left, Jim Lister just behind me)

I find this hard to write because Bill and I have been close friends for over 70 years starting in 3rd grade at Ludlow Elementary School.  We played baseball and football together from elementary school through high school.  We kept in touch during the college years especially when I hitch hiked to see Janet Katanik at Miami of Ohio (I was at Wittenberg), and when there, I stayed with Dick Blalaz and Bill.  A great memory for both Bill and myself is when we played golf with Tom Armstrong and Janet's father.  Janet and I were married in 1963 and Bill was in our wedding party.  Later a friend of Janet's traveled to Germany and met Bill who at the time was in the Air Force, and married him. We remained close to them over the years and visited each other on a regular basis.  Regretfully we were no able to visit Bill during the two years that he was battling liver cancer.  He was at times too ill to have visitors and then Covid happened.  We did however text or call every couple of weeks and got updates.  I would want you to know that Bill was a fighter and he said "it isn't over till it's over".  Bill never lost his sense of humor when he asked me "on which side of the casket would prefer to be on?" Those of you who know me will understand.  I will miss Bill dearly and I will always remember the good times.
