Peace Corps Volunteer from 1963-65 in Colombia, South America.
Married a Spanish/Colombian Poet-Archaeologist: Vidal Echeverria and had five children with him. Studied Spanish, archaeology, history and art with him. Lived in Colombia for 18 years.
Returned to the states 1980 under the name of Lene Vidal, bringing my children with me. Enrolled them in Shaker.
Received a teacher's certification in Spanish K-12 and taught at Shaker and Cleveland Heights. Received a MA. in Spanish Ed. in 1967 and another MA. in Spanish Literature and Civilization in 1986 both from Cleveland State.
Married Nick Grasso in 1997. Changed name to Paloma Pilar Grasso, Opened an Hispanic Folk and Fine Art Gallery in Little Italy, Cleveland in 2001. Still going.
Nick graduated from Heights. I missed our 50th reunion because I was in Peru on a buying trip but I went to Heights' 40th with Nick. Felt like a traitor but I had a lot of fun. We have 7 grandchildren and one great grand daughter, but no children together. Nick wrote on his notes, never been a father but I managed to have a great grand daughter.
I have this fascination for the fine arts. Art, music and dance and at 73 I still dance every morning. I study guitar and once in a while get back to the piano. The art gallery gives me all kinds of excuses to travel and buy art. I love it.
