I transferred into the Shaker School system in the 10th grade, so I lack the deep roots that so many of you have. To catch up: My wife, Pat, fell and broke her skull in 2016. She never regained consciousness, so I am a widower. My mom lives in Judson Manor (assisted living) on East 107th Street near University Circle. She will be 103 in March. She has dementia, but she still knows me and my two brothers. I try to visit her as often as feasible. Mom's sister, Judge Jean Murrell Capers, died in July, 2017 at the age of 104. I was at the ceremony when the City renamed tennis courts (at about Euclid and MLK) for her. Aunt Jean really liked that. Congresswoman Fudge and Mayor Jackson spoke at Aunt Jean's memorial service. I recently visited and have information about classmate Jewell Smith (Jenkins), but I need to get her permission before I share it. As for me, I thought that giving up cigarettes in 2003 meant that I would be spared from lung cancer. Wrong! The upper right lobe was removed May 22, 2018. The six month follow-up showed there is still more. I will begin chemo and radiation treatments on 2/4/2019. Until the side effects from the treatments kick in, I feel strong and healthy and happy. I still sing - mostly show tunes in piano bars at least once per week. That will likely diminish after the cancer treatments. The best email to reach me is paul_m_rose@sonic.net. Regards to all from San Francisco.
Jill, I say pick an age and stick to it regardless of the calendar. However, I think I need to pick a different age, because my friend Joe told me last month that I look pretty bad for 39. Have a good one.

David, I do not understand how all of my classmates are turning 70 when I will be 39 on my next birthday. It's a miracle! I hope you had a good one.
