Giving back to the youth in our community is a big need for our kids today. I am so proud of my prodigy Dawon DJ Burt to follow his dreams since he was 9 years old in baseball. I was a baseball coach at the time with my other little mentee Desmond when I met DJ from a family and friends cookout event. I was able to do some drills with him for 30-45 minutes and saw that he was a natural for baseball. I went back to talk to his mother and asked her to put him on their recreation baseball team in his area of Fuquay Varina. DJ has been playing AAU since he was 10 years old and got notice/discovered in Atlanta tournament by college scouts at age 14. He got drafted this year May 10, 2014 after graduation by KC Royals in 4th round as Shortstop/2nd base. My goal and desire is to continue to follow his career and development to the MLB level and help continue to help other kids reach their goals to finish high school and start college. Go KC Royals to win World Series this year and start the dynasty so DJ can be called up in next 1-2 years to join the MLB team Kansas City!!
